The Spirit of Christmas

Image
What's good! - this week was good, fun, and hard and just about everything you could want on the mission. - Christmas was awesome I got a really good study in about Jesus. He is really cool.  - it rained all day Christmas and no one accepted us but that's ok - this lady tried to bible bash and I was literally about to bash back and so I was ready to pose my thought provoking question and after I said the first word I bit my tongue. Let her speak and asked to leave. It was very humbling. - the branch president said he'd make and sell me a belt made from snakeskin and leather that he killed. So cool.  Spiritual thought I love Jeffery R Holland. "If we give our heart to God, if we love the Lord Jesus Christ, if we do the best we can to live the gospel, then tomorrow—and every other day—is ultimately going to be magnificent, even if we don’t always recognize it as such." One thing I've have been learning is the Lord loves if we can give our best. Not if were p...

Alright I'm basically in the middle of nowhere. So these emails are gonna be a little longer, hopefully funnier, maybe not completely politically correct. - I'm headed out to estanislao de campo. In formosa. It just about smack down in the middle of nowhere. - Took a 3 hour bus, then a 4 hour bus, and we got here like 11 at night. - and well this place is just smack dab in the middle of nowhere. - There are a lot of rumors about a lot of people here. Especially the branch president, i'll keep you informed.   - but so far nothing too crazy - but he did say the relief society was super necessary because whenever there is anything "hay que cocinar", well that's just not true  - accepted water from a members house, big mistake i paid for it that night - acquired protein powder hehe - ran out of money and comps very tight with his so ill be eating milk and protein powder for the next week or two - this place is wild. There are a ton of members, but no one goes to c...

Good-bye Barranquearas

- solid week - lego calendar has been awesome keeps me going - this week hno sena hit two weeks without alcohol which is sick - also had divisions with elder henling - we took an uber to the southern most part of the area and everything fell through. Then we called another uber to go. And when it showed up they told us they only took cash (greedy little sucker), so we decided to walk. It was only an hour and a half of a walk but it was cool - church was fun - the ward had gone to the temple so they all shared their testimonies, and it was dope - had to say bye to everyone lots of good people in barranqueras It's been a fun time here  - elder maxfield

Happy Birthday Mom

Hey mom! I was going to give you a birthday gift but i can't because I'm in Argentina. But instead here's this letter.  Mom you are the best mother I could have asked for. You always taught me what was the most important. You always helped me get to church and young men's even when I didn't want to. You also always support me in what I do. Biking, skiing, school, knee surgeries. And I am eternally grateful. My very very short time on my mission has made realize how blessed I am with a good mother. And not just with temporary possessions. But things that people need to be good people. How to work hard, love people, wake up early, how to handle hard situations with people. And so so much more. I love you mom. And am so grateful for you.  Hope you had a good birthday!  - elder Maxfield

Keep progressing

  - ate empanadas 3 times this week - power went out - went to formosa for divisions - talked to a lot of interesting people this week. One guy told us he was evangelical and that baptism wasn't necessary even though the Bible says it is.  - And we taught the 10 commandments to this one catholic lady who freaked out about commandment number two, don't worship idols. And we'll it's in the Bible so you can't pray to the virgin. It says it right there buddy.   - we had a really good church meeting where an elder shared a talk about spiritual progression. And how we all need it and it was a good reminder to keep progressing. Spiritual thought: Jesus loves you  - elder max
